If your team works outbound, chances are most of your prospecting activity lives on the Leads object, not on Contacts. That's exactly where HubSpot's native sequence tooling falls short. Sequences were built with Contacts in mind, and even though HubSpot introduced the Leads object to give sales teams a dedicated space for prospecting, it never fully connected that object to sequence enrollment. FlowNer closes that gap.
Here's a scenario one of our users described. A sales team wanted to run outbound entirely through the Leads object, since that's where they track New Business, source, and stage. They needed two things:
Native HubSpot doesn't offer either option. There's no sequence card on the lead record, and workflow actions for sequence enrollment aren't available on the Leads object at all. Some tools in the market cover the workflow side but skip manual enrollment, which leaves reps without a way to enroll a lead on the spot when they're working a list.
Manual enrollment, right from the lead record
FlowNer installs a card directly on the lead record's preview panel. From there, a rep can see the app's plan and enrollment usage at a glance, then click "Enroll in a Sequence" without leaving the lead. The panel walks through the same options you'd expect from HubSpot's own sequence enrollment:
Automatic enrollment, through lead-based workflows
For automated enrollment, FlowNer adds a dedicated workflow action, "Enroll Lead Contacts in a Sequence," that runs inside lead-based workflows. Set your trigger, for example a new lead record being created, add any filter conditions you want, and the action enrolls the associated contact into the sequence you choose.
Sender type again supports both a specific user and contact owner, with the same requirement HubSpot applies natively: whoever sends the sequence needs a connected personal email in their HubSpot settings.
Together, the card and the workflow action mean a team can run outbound however it fits their process - some leads enrolled manually as reps work a queue, others enrolled automatically the moment a lead is created, all without any contact-side workaround.
Outbound reps live on the Leads object because it's built for exactly that workflow: tracking net-new business by stage, owner, and source, separate from the noise of existing contact records. Every time that process requires flipping over to a contact record just to start a sequence, you lose time and you lose the clean separation between prospecting and account data that the Leads object was supposed to give you in the first place.
FlowNer's enrollment tools mean sequence enrollment can happen from wherever the lead work actually happens, without asking reps to change how they operate or manage two parallel systems side by side.
Both the manual card and the workflow action are available on FlowNer's plans, including the free tier for teams just getting started with lead-based enrollment.
Can I enroll a Lead into a sequence without converting it to a Contact first? Yes. FlowNer enrolls the contact associated with the lead directly, whether you trigger it manually from the lead record or through a workflow. No conversion step required.
Does FlowNer support both manual and automatic enrollment? Yes. The lead record card handles manual, one-off enrollment, and the "Enroll Lead Contacts in a Sequence" workflow action handles automatic enrollment based on the triggers and conditions you set.
Who can send the sequence - does it have to be the contact owner? No. You can choose "Contact Owner" or a specific user as the sender. Whoever is selected needs a connected personal email in their HubSpot settings, the same requirement HubSpot applies to native sequence sending.
Can I delay enrollment after a lead is created? Yes, both the manual card and the workflow action support an optional delay before enrollment.
Is this available on the free plan? Yes. Manual and workflow-based lead enrollment are both available on FlowNer's free tier, so teams can try the full workflow before upgrading.
What if my workflow needs specific filter conditions before enrolling a lead? The workflow action supports the same condition filtering as any other HubSpot workflow step, so you can restrict enrollment to leads matching stage, owner, source, or any other property you track.
